СПОЛУЧНИКИ AND, BUT, SO, BECAUSE

Сполучники в англійській мові, як і в українській, вживаються для зв’язку членів речення і цілих речень у складному реченні. Вони виражають різні відношення між членами речення і між реченнями, але самі не є членами речення:

Наприклад, сполучник and (і, та) є сполучним:

Nick and Pete are students. Микола і Петро — студенти.

Сполучник but (але) є протиставним:

I came here but you weren’t. Я приходив сюди раніше, але вас не було вдома.

Сполучник because (тому що, оскільки) є причинним:

She explained me the rule again because I had made a lot of mistakes.

Вона пояснила мені правило знову, оскільки я зробив багато помилок.

Сполучник so (отже) повідомляє про результат:

I know the rules so I can do the test. – Я знаю правила, отже я можу виконувати тест.

They can help with an interesting cultural programme like visiting galleries, museums and theatres, historical places or art festivals. You may take short trips around the country by bus or train. Be prepared for other kind of meal. You can enjoy some of the fi nest dishes in Eastern Europe and try Ukrainian borsch and varenyky, chicken a-la-Kyiv, rolled-and-filled pancakes or delicious Ukrainian brown bread.

Минулий простий час (Past Simple)

Виражає дію, що відбулася у минулому. Вживається із словами:

yesterday – вчора

last – минулого

ago – тому

Розповідне речення

1) Якщо дієслово правильне, то до нього додається закінчення - ed:

Play – played, cook - cooked

2) Якщо дієслово неправильне, то вживається його друга форма:

go – went, see – saw

Ці неправильні дієслова слід запам’ятати.

Питальне речення

Щоб утворити запитання на початок речення виноситься допоміжне слово did, а дієслово вживається у початковій формі:

Did he play□ tennis yesterday?

Заперечне речення

У заперечному реченні між підметом і присудком вживається допоміжне слово did і заперечна частка not . Дієслово-присудок вживається у початковій формі.

I did not play tennis yesterday.

Дієслово to be (бути) – особливе для часу Past Simple.

Воно має дві форми: was та were. Це дієслово не потребує допоміжних дієслів для утворення заперечних та питальних речень. Вибір правильної форми залежить від підмета у реченні.

Was – використовується, коли підмет виражений іменником або займенником у формі однини (I, he, she, it).

Were – коли підмет вказує на множину людей або речей (we, they), а також коли він виражений займенником you (ти, ви, ввічливе Ви).

· I was tired. – Я був втомленим.

· You were tired. – Ви були втомлені.

The Present Perfect Tense (Теперішній завершений час)

Вживається для вираження дії, яка щойно (just) завершилася або вже (already) відбулася і про її результат говорять зараз. Чи тоді, коли її ще не встигли ( not yet) зробити.

На цей час можуть вказувати слова:

аlready - вже

just - щойно

уet – ще не

today – сьогодні

ever – коли-небудь

never – ніколи

this week – цього тижня

Розповідне речення

1) Якщо дію виконують він (he), вона (she),воно (it),

то вживається допоміжне слово has , а дієслово вживається у третій формі, або із закінченням -ed.

He has written a poem.

2) Якщо дію виконують я (I), ми (we), ти , ви (you), вони(they) то вживається допоміжне слово have, а дієслово вживається у третій формі, або із закінченням -ed.

We have cleaned our room.

Питальне речення

Для того, щоб утворити запитання на початок речення виносяться допоміжні слова has або have, а дієслово так і вживається у третій формі, або із закінченням -ed.

Have we cleaned our room?

Заперечне речення

У заперечному реченні між підметом і присудком вживається допоміжне слово have або has і заперечна частка not, а дієслово так і вживається у третій формі, або із закінченням -ed.

There are many big cities and beautiful towns in Ukraine. Each of them has its own ancient name. Some of the towns took their names after their founders or national heroes. Danylo of Halych gave his son’s name Leo (Lev — in Ukrainian) to the town of Lviv. Other towns took their names after the names of their regions. Kharkiv, Uzhhorod, Luhansk, Poltava grew on the rivers with

the similar names.

The Ukrainians are not different from the other Europeans. They also like to travel, meet other people, enjoy life’s pleasures and give their love to sports.

Zero Conditional. Умовне речення нульового типу

Task I. Learn the rules. Вивчіть правила.

Умовні речення – це тип речень, коли ми говоримо про те, що може статися, могло б статися або ж йдеться про наші мрії. Ці типи речень завжди складаються з «If-речення» (умови) та «головного речення». If-речення — це подія, яка може статися, а «головне речення» — це дія, яка має відбутися внаслідок цього. Характерна ознака таких речень – сполучник if.

Zero conditional (умовне речення нульового типу) використовуються:

We use the -Zero Conditional to

a) talk about general facts (розповідає про загальні істини, природні або наукові факти, правила або ж часто повторювані події, що стали правилом)

If it rains, I take my umbrella.

b) make suggestions and offers (рекомендувати і пропонувати)

If you are free, come to the club. If you need help, call Bill.

c) give advice (давати пораду)

If you go to Egypt, visit the Pyramids.

Порядок – Ви часто можете змінити порядок «If-речення» та «головного речення», не змінюючи значення речення. Також зверніть увагу, що коли

Present Simple. Present Continuous

Task I. Revise the rules. Повторіть (вивчіть) правила.

Теперішній простий час

(Present Simple)

Вживається для вираження дії, що відбувається часто, завжди або регулярно у теперішньому часі. Та коли мова йде про загальновідомі факти.

Наприклад: Я встаю о 7 годині. Я люблю читати. Вода кипить при 100 градусах.

На цей час вказують такі слова:

Always - завжди, usually - зазвичай, often - часто, every day – кожного дня, sometimes - іноді, seldom - рідко , never – ніколи.

Розповідне речення

1) Якщо дію виконують

він (he), вона (she) або воно (it), то до дієслова додається закінчення –s (або –es).

Наприклад: He reads, she reads, it rains

Закінчення -es додається, якщо дієслово закінчується на: -s, -ss, -sh, -ch, -tch, -x, -o.

Наприклад: He watches, she brushes, it goes.

Але: дієслово have утворюється не за правилами, воно вживається у формі has

He has lunch. She has dinner.

2) Якщо дію виконують

я (I), ми (we), ти,ви (you), вони (they), то дієслово не змінюється.

Наприклад: I read, we play, they go, you swim.

Заперечне речення

У заперечному реченні вживаються допоміжні слова

do або does та заперечна частка not.

1) Якщо дію виконують

він (he), вона (she), воно (it) -- вживається does not (doesn’t)

Наприклад: He doesn’t like milk. She doesn’t clean teeth.

УВАГА: дієслово вживається без закінчення (-s, -es)

2) Якщо дію виконують

я (I), ми (we), ти, ви (you), вони (they) - вживається do not (don’t)

Наприклад: I don’t like tea. We don’t read .

Питальне речення

У питальному реченні вживаються допоміжні слова

do або does , які виносяться на початок речення.

Does he, she, it swim ?

УВАГА: дієслово вживається без закінчення (-s, -es)

Do I, we, you, they play ?

Відповідь на такі запитання може бути так або ні

Так - Yes, I do./ Yes, he does.

Ні - No, I don’t. / No, she doesn’t.

Present Continuous – теперішній тривалий час.

Стверджувальне (розповідне) речення

утворюється за допомогою допоміжних дієслів am / is / are та додавання закінчення (-ing) до дієслова .

He, she, it – is + Ving

We, you, they - are

I am playing football now. – Я граю у футбол зараз.

Sally is doing her homework at the moment. – Саллі зараз робить домашнє завдання.

They are fishing now. – Вони зараз рибалять.

Заперечне речення в Present Continuous утворюється за допомогою додавання до допоміжного дієслова am / is / are заперечної частки not, та дієслова із закінченням –ing.

Для утворення питального речення у Present Continuous допоміжне дієслово am / is / are потрібно винести на початок речення. Дієслово-присудок вживається із закінченням –ing.

Утворення ступенів порівняння англійських прикметників

Є три способи утворення ступенів порівняння прикметників: простий (синтетичний), складний та винятки.

Простий спосіб

Простий спосіб вимагає додавання закінчення -er для утворення вищого ступеню та закінчення -est для утворення найвищого ступеню. За таким правилом утворюються прикметники, що складаються з одного складу:

cold - colder – the coldest

young - younger - the youngest

Також в такий спосіб утворюються ступені порівняння двоскладових прикметників, що закінчуються на -le, -er, -y, -ow:

tender – tenderer – tenderest

narrow – narrower – narrowest

При цьому слід дотримуватись наступних орфографічних правил при утворенні ступенів порівняння прикметників у простий спосіб:

1. Якщо -е в кінці слова не вимовляється, то у вищому та найвищому ступені прикметника воно не використовується:

large – larger – the largest

brave – braver – bravest

2. Якщо прикметник закінчується на коротку голосну і приголосну, то приголосна подвоюється:

big – bigger- the biggest

thin – thinner – the thinnest

hot – hotter – the hottest

3. Якщо прикметник закінчується на -у, перед якою йде приголосна, то вона змінюється на -i:

easy – easier - the easiest

pretty – prettier - the prettiest

dirty – dirtier - the dirtiest

Складний спосіб

Складний спосіб утворення ступенів порівняння прикметників використовується багатоскладовими прикметниками.

Для утворення вищого ступеню порівняння перед прикметником вживається слово more (більш, більше), для найвищого – most (найбільш, найбільший):

beautiful - more beautiful – the most beautiful

intelligent – more intelligent – the most intelligent

Винятки

Деякі з англійських прикметників утворюють ступені порівняння не за загальними правилами, а мають свої особливі форми. Нижче наведені такі прикметники:

many – more – the most

good – better – the best

bad – worse – the worst

little – less – the least

old – older/elder – the oldest/eldest

far – farther/further – the farthest /furthest

Лише якісні прикметники англійської мови можуть мати ступінь порівняння.

Важливо пам’ятати, що незалежно від того, як утворюється найвищий ступінь прикметника, перед ним завжди вживаєтья означений артикль the:

the oldest – настаріший

the softest – найм’якіший

the happiest – найщасливіший

До прийменників часу в англійській мові відносяться at, in, on. Часто виникає питання: який саме з цих прийменників потрібно вживати у конкретній ситуації: at, in або on?

Запам’ятайте найголовніше, що:

· at використовується для позначення точного часу

· in використовується з місяцями, роками, століттями та довгими періодами часу

· on використовується з днями та датами

Наприклад:
